CREE TAMARACK DECOY WITH OPEN WINGS
This tamarack decoy with open wings is recalling the Cree Nation of James-Bay 's tradition for attracting Canada geese during their spring and fall migration .The birds were the only reliable source of food the nomadic people could eat when the climate and the fauna didn't favour easy living conditions.
The tamarack tree is the only evergreen that will loose it's needles in the fall.The smell is characteristic of the taïga forest and is used in many medicinal uses,for example,relief from sinus congestion when branches are heated(smells like eucalyptus).
